I recently dyed my hair using the Shea Moisture Hair Color System in Jet Black. Lately I’ve been wearing my natural hair color which is a dark brown. I decided to do this after not dying my hair for an entire year. I had light brown hair and used bleach to achieve it which lead to some damage which has taken quite some time to fix. After letting my hair fully recover I decided to go darker for the fall.
The Shea Moisture hair color kit contains natural and organic ingredients. It is also ammonia free.
- Shea Butter Color Creme
- Radiant Developer Creme
- Instructions w/ Gloves
- Hair Coloring Brush
- Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo
- Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner
- Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Finishing Elixir
The process of prepping to apply color is very simple. The color contains shea butter and is extremely moisturizing. Once added to the developer bottle it forms a thick non drip formula. I applied this color to my hair in an all white bathroom so I really appreciated this non messy formula. Most hair color formulas drip all over my clothes & bathroom, but this did not.
I left the color on for about 30-45 minutes then headed to the shower to rinse it all out . The shampoo and conditioner included in the set was used.
This system is great for dry and damaged hair. However, this hair color system is still great for all hair types because no matter what your hair type or texture is you still need to restore moisture after drying it out with hair coloring. I do not have extremely dry or damaged hair but I am a fan of the conditioner for a deep continuing experience. I did not use the reconstructive finishing elixir but I suggest trying it out if your hair type/texture requires extra moisture.
After styling I was left with healthy, shiny, and soft jet black hair. I love the Shea Moisture Hair Color System. I’ll be using it again for my next root touch up.
